OK, well sort of.....The average age of the wood on this one is about 113 years. The top is well over 100yrs, the B&S set is over 200yrs and the neck at least 25yrs. As best as I can figure about 113 years....I haven't sprayed it yet but it has a nice big/small guitar sound. I think I will keep this one.

Yeah, Brian, tell us about the wood! Looks like pine for the top--also looks like you oriented the tight grain to the outside...an unusual choice in both instances. Could you elaborate?

The top is Red Spruce and the Back and Sides are Koa. The body binding and the end graft are figured Myrtle with a black side purfling and the purfling on top goes red/herring bone/red/black. The rosette is Sapele withh black/white/red strips (from the inside out). The fretboard binding is also Sapele with with maple purf. and the headplate and end cap are Koa. The fret markers are abalone with a silver ring around them and the frets are gold.Other than the obvious (tuners, frets, bone and markers) everything is natural wood...I think that just about covers it.

Oh...and yes, I did orient the wider grain to the inside as it had more stiffness to it than the tighter grain.

Where do you get those?
And I'm assuming that the "gold" content is not 24K?

I find when you do that it exagerates the radius of the top visually. Your brain wants those stripes to be equal distant and will "bend" the top if it has to to make it happen. You get the opposite effect when you put the narrow grain in the center. The top appears to flatten out a little.

This is just an observation. I"m not trying to imply that one is better than the other.
